Praises
1. I graduated from DBTS May 14th. I thank the Lord for granting me the opportunity for learning His Word in this depth. I realize that very few people in the world have such an opportunity. To whom much is given, much more will be required.
#2-3 in response to the prayer requests listed on my blog “Ready to Go” from July 28th
2. I had a little opportunity to speak to a Korean young man about my age who was headed to Indonesia to research its economic recovery since the Tsunami hit in 2004. He was interested in my ministry opportunity and wondered what the difference was between me and the Ecumenicals that he had met at Duke. I was able to briefly share with him the essentials of the faith that I could not waver on while the Ecumenicals will give just as much credit to any number of completely contradictory beliefs.
3. I and my bags made all the connections; my flight was safe and comfortable; I got a little bit of sleep on the plane but not really at the right times that I wanted; I had a productive day settling in on Friday.
4. My transition to a new country, culture, ministry is going well.
5. God’s faithfulness in difficult situations.
6. Ping and Melanie are proud parents to a healthy boy – Paton
7. S.S. Teacher Conference went very well; also my breakout session was well received regarding what are teens struggling with today.
8. One of the ladies in the church was at the point of death with Dengue Fever. However, the Lord graciously spared her life and answered the specific prayers of many people praying for her.
9. For God being so gracious and loving to me this last month and for helping me to vehemently want to glorify him and not live for my own desires. It is so wonderful to see the Lord help me.
Prayer Requests
1. That I would walk worthy of the Lord and grow spiritually in the Word and in Prayer and in Fighting Sin.
2. For my physical stamina in dealing with my muscle weakness.
3. For my weekly teaching opportunities: Saturday Teens (The Exceeding Sinfulness of Sin); Jr. High Sunday School (Judges/Ruth); Sunday Evening Service (Amos); Random other opportunities…
4. For the hearts of the teens – that they would love and fear God because they are driven to glorify God
5. Pray for the leadership of the church as they and I head to Malaysia for planning out the next year
6. Pray for the VBS and Christmas program – that we would be able to speak the Word of Truth into their hearts, some of them for the first time
7. Pray for the Youth devotional and accountability program that I am writing – that it would be clearly written and the personal time in the Word would impact their lives
8. Pray that the church camp would go smoothly and that all the lodging arrangements will come through – we still might be short some rooms. Pray for Steve Hafler and his daughter to have a safe flight and that he would drive all of us to the Word and the Lord of the Word.
9. Pray that as I feel very comfortable in this culture over here (like almost no shock at all at this point) that I would also begin to understand the differences that underly things subtly so that I can better relate to people correctly- I am told it usually takes 2-3 yrs before you really realize the differences that really do exist.
Just wanted to let you know that we prayed for you and the Lim family last night in JH Wednesday night.
Thank you so much – miss you guys
